The Shiny Squirrel Interview

Artwork above by Blanca Gomez

When blogger, Jessica Goldfond, asked us to be part of her Little Interview series on The Shiny Squirrel, we were honored. Jessica has interviewed many extremely creative people, and continues to showcase and offer an amazing selection of original artwork on her site. Don't miss it!

The Shiny Squirrel - Little Interview Series

I was truly smitten with I Love Factory when I found them so it is my pleasure to interview them as part of The Little Interview Series. I need those headpieces immediately!

What is last thing you discovered about yourself?

Over the course of the past year we have discovered that we make ideal business partners. We know how to feed off of each other and we know our strengths and weaknesses.

How did your business get started?

We started designing head pieces for Laurel so we could compliment her amazing costumes that she would wear out to parties. Eventually our friends and people around us started to pick up on it and wanted one for themselves. And so the first collection Parklife Society was born.

Check out the rest of the interview here!

Behind The Scenes

On a very beautiful Sunday morning we gathered a bunch of our closest friends for a little photo shoot in Prospect Park. As we walked from our friends apartment to the park ready to shoot all eyes were on the ladies. They were even stopped by an NYPD officer in the park who was snapping pictures for an event we happened to wander through. Always a good time!

The Perennial Poltergeists collection is featured on Kim Swift, Jessica Resler, Mary Ellen Henderson and our super cute God daughter Ryder Blue Cavazos. Thank you to everyone who helped out. All pictures are by Daniel Cavazos and Nicole Greener.

Enjoy!

Summertime and $WIFTTAPES!

Kim Swift Photographed by Merlin Bronques of LastNightsParty

Summer is my favorite season for many reasons. Summer anthems are always a huge part of every summer season. Our good friend Kim Swift over at We Came In Peace creates the ultimate summer playlists. She has one for every mood. Right now our picks go to "throw some glitter on it" and "the white sands of south beach." Check out $WIFTTAPES! These songs are guaranteed to make the Summer of 2009 a memorable one.

Meet Fiona

During our trunk show last weekend we met so many interesting, confident and beautiful clients. On Friday I received an email with a picture attached from the very lovely, Fiona. Fiona is from Austria and was visiting New York City for the first time with her amazing family. Fiona's parents were very sweet and her Dad took this picture of her and I. Fiona is wearing the Parkside, from our Parklife Society Collection. We just adore her chic style! Thank you so much Fiona and enjoy the rest of your time in NYC!

Gossip

The Parkside and the Lefferts, both from the Parklife Society Collection were featured on an episode of Gossip Girl, "There Might Be Blood," on November 3, 2008. Jenny Humphrey wore the Parkside, and her friend Agnes wore the Lefferts.

Last week we had heard a rumor that one of the still shots from the episode had made the cover of the Gossip Girl book series. We stopped at Barnes & Noble and there it was!

One Thing Ends and Another Begins

Another successful Henri Bendel trunk show is now behind us. We had an amazing time at Bendel over the last two days. Sales were stellar, we made some new friends and got to see some old ones. This time we were right in front of the main entrance in the Atrium. Despite the arctic air conditioning system it was a GREAT spot. The sales team at Bendel are so supportive of what Laurel and I are doing and consistently go out of their way to showcase our work. We had the chance to talk with so many beautiful clients. Which for both of us always makes every stitch we sew worth it.

Now for the new beginning....Starting next week we will have our line sold at the exclusive West Village boutique Castor & Pollux. Castor & Pollux is located at 238 West 10th Street. Laurel and I are so excited to be working with Owner of Castor & Pollux and good friend, Kerrilynn Pamer. So make sure you stop by and check it out!

Park - IT

When the factory is in production Laurel and I spend countless hours working on new collections and producing previous collections for upcoming trunk shows. It is then that we have to give ourselves mandatory stretch breaks. One of our favorite things to do is get dressed in costume and take the party to the park. Our good friends Danielle and Nicole know how to pack a picnic basket full of yummy drinks and snacks. And anytime I'm eating I'm happy.

Laurel is sporting the Windsor from the Parklife Society Collection. We added the veiling on for a shoot with Karen O.
